The tree-hugging trend among mobile phones gets another disciple with the launch of three new GreenHeart handsets for the leading Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson. One of them is a smartphone that lays claim to being the world’s first to run the enhanced Windows Mobile 6.5.3.
It could also be Sony Ericsson’s first Blackberry-style smartphone with the candybar QWERTY form factor and a touchscreen. It’s the new Sony Ericsson Aspen, announced early in February and should be coming soon within the early part of the second quarter of 2010.
It will have two body color choices – ivory black and silver white and is distinctively styled to give a better alternative to those bland Blackberry smartphones. Sony is positioning the Aspen as a fun but serious corporate smartphone for the younger crowd.
At a Glance
The Aspen is a quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE on 2G and a dual band UMTS on 3G with the expected HSPA high speed data connectivity for fast internet surfing and downloading. Its QWERTY candybar body measures 117 x 60 x 12.5mm and weights 130g making it one of the heaviest smartphones out there. You also have WiFi for surfing in hotspots as well as local data synching options for wired microUSB 2.0 and wireless Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP.
It has the typical 2.4-inch QVGA TFT LCD screen found on many handsets with the Blackberry styling but you also get a resistive touchscreen display with improved finger and gesture control from its enhanced Windows Mobile version. There’s also an accelerometer for auto-rotate viewing.
Imaging is basic with a mere 3.2 megapixel camera that only features smart contrast and a basic video recording capability. It does a better job in the multimedia department with the usual media players we’ve come to expect from the Walkman heritage of Sony. It comes with a media browser for your images, audio and video files as well as access to its PlayNow site for the latest games and music files.
Internal memory is a modest 100 MB that benefits from the better memory management feature of the enhanced Windows Mobile OS but you also get microSD expandability for up to 16 GB. There’s A-GPS with Google Maps, a stereo FM receiver with RDS as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack. Its battery when fully charged provides up to 10 hours of talk time on 2G, 12 hours of music payback time and up to 450 hours on standby.
The Aspen’s eco-friendly features include the WalkMate pedometer and CO2 calculator that tells you the CO2 emission you prevented by just walking or taking the bus instead of your car. Its press release has been less than complete on its green features but we figure it shares the same recycled plastic parts and water-based paints that its C901 GreenHeart precursor had.
Conclusion
The Sony Ericsson Aspen is a very capable smartphone that gets better with a distinctive styling that goes above the usual Blackberry form while benefiting from the enhanced features of the WinMo 6.5.3. Other than that, its rather unexciting set of features only confirms what its press release says is an affordable smartphone. Without any pricing information yet, we can expect it to be priced slighter better than many low-end smartphones.
The Nintendo Wii Sports is one of the best games ever developed by Nintendo because of the different sports featured in every game and the special controller that comes with some sports like baseball and golf. This special feature in a Nintendo Wii Sports game consists of placing the player into the virtual field where he swings, kicks, and throws just like a normal athlete would do using the specially designed Wiimote. This immersion in realism, a concept now being adapted by leading game companies, has become the “in – thing” for gamers as it deviates from the usual gamepad control.
If you’re looking for the Nintendo Wii Sports game that suits your interest best, the first thing you can do is to look through good websites that feature those games and read the reviews done about them. This way, you will be able to find out which game features your favourite sport and can download them for your enjoyment. If you’re a golf fan, you could search for a good golf game for Wii and pick out which one seems interesting to you and to others as well. Reviews of that certain game from professional gamers can also help in your choice. All kinds of help and advice are available in Wii related websites, so just keep reading and your options open.
As the gaming industry continues to improve the quality of its games, there will be much to expect from nintendo due to the Nintendo Wii Sports game success. Wii downloading websites are always updating with every new release and will offer more and more to consumers who are looking for good games to add to their ever-growing games collection.
There is not a single answer to this question as usually there are a cluster of things that lead to the slowdown performance of a PC or laptop.
The very first cause of this reduction in speed can be the start-up programs that you might have set up to open automatically with the starting of the Windows. Various kinds of media players, office files and messenger programs can cause the PC or laptop to slowdown. In such cases start-up seems to consume plenty of time and even affects the overall efficiency of your machine.
Downloads can be another potential cause that can contribute to the reduced speed of your PC or laptop. There are countless types of software that can be downloaded without even paying a single dime. These include games, calendars, office products, utility suites and many more things that can lure people. Very few people know that apart from consuming free space from the hard drive these downloads also require some of the virtual memory for running perfectly. Such consumption affects the overall performance of your machine and slows it down. Secondly these downloads are usually accompanied by spyware, adware, Trojan horses and other malicious programs. This can be one of the major causes for the dwindling speed of your PC or laptop.
The speed of you machine also suffers in case you do not clear your recycle bin regularly. Whenever you delete files they are immediately thrown into the recycle bin. Even though these files have been deleted by you but they still occupy some space and hinder the performance of your machine significantly. Too much of internet surfing can also result in the decrease of speed and the chances of slowdown elevate in case you do not delete “temporary internet files” on a regular basis.
In fact these are many more things that can hinder your computer from performing effectively. But an old adage says that “There is a solution to every problem”, hence all you need to do is to find the right kind of solutions to tackle this problem.

Software Testing Services
A key area to focus on when considering a software testing company is its software testers. Today there exists two popular certifications, ISEB and ISTQB. Try and ensure that the software testers at least hold these certifications at foundation level. Another factor with regards to software testers is the amount of experience they have. Many software testing companies state that there testers have five years I.T. experience. But reading between the lines, this simply means that they have five years experience anywhere in the field of Information Technology. You should really ask the software testing company, how many years professional software testing experience they actually have.
Many software testing companies offer a wide range of software testing services. Caution should be used though, as many of these companies will advertise these services but may not necessarily have the expertise to perform them. The types of software testing services that any professional company should offer is:
Test Case Creation
This very popular service typically involves creating detailed test cases that not only can be used on the project under test, but also due to their high quality can be re-used on future projects and form a high quality test documentation asset. Good testers will accumulate all required information necessary to produce the test cases, typically from design documentation, requirements and developer interview. Once the information has been analyzed a software tester will create a sophisticated excel spreadsheet which includes test cases, results sheets, environment setup and version details etc. Clients are involved in every stage of test case development in the form of a test case review process.
Functional Testing
Typical software products today include large amounts of critical functionality and complex features, added to this significant time pressures to get the product released make functional testing one of the most important stage of any software development. A software tester’s manual functional testing techniques have been proven to be highly effective at essentially determining whether or not the functionality actually works, or not. Versatile software testers can work from their own created test cases or use any pre-existing test cases you may already have. Good software testers readily use ad-hoc techniques when executing any tests to expand the test coverage. The aim during functional testing is to highlight any issues as early as possible so the developers can resolve it. This can obviously effectively reduce the development costs to your company.
Usability Testing
In order to ensure your software meets the needs of the end user; Usability Testing can be used. Not only will usability testing detect errors, but it will also detect navigational issues, language issues, workflow experience etc. Good software testers put themselves into the mindset of the end user and will report on the ‘look & feel’ of the software under test. Good software testers often build a set of test cases based upon real end user scenarios or business cases to ensure the software is tested in a similar way to how the real end users will actually use the software. This type of software testing has been proven to increase the ROI of software developments by enhancing the end user experience and therefore potentially increasing product sales. As usability testing is trying to ensure that the end user experience is appreciated, we perform this type of testing manually.
Regression Testing
Regression testing is surprisingly often overlooked area of software testing. This is often due to the assumption that when new functionality is working correctly then the software is ready for release. However, more often than not, additional issues have been introduced that affect existing functionality. Software testers have the knowledge and experience to identify existing test cases that are suitable for regression. Regression test cases are commonly functional test cases that are reused at regular intervals throughout the software development to ensure that the expected results remain consistent, thus providing confidence that nothing has been adversely affected by change.
Acceptance Testing
Acceptance testing is typically driven by the end user or customer. Acceptance test cases are normally executed by the customer prior to accepting the product. But commonly, these test cases are also given to the software developers to ensure their product meets the level of acceptance before the end of development. Software testers can perform execution of these test cases to highlight any issues to the development team as early as possible. Software testers can also derive expected acceptance test cases from customer requirements for you. On a smaller scale our software testers can also derive smoke tests to act as a form of acceptance tests during stages of the software development life cycle.
System Testing
System testing of software is testing conducted on a complete, integrated system to evaluate the system’s compliance with its specified requirements. Good software testers treat System testing as an investigatory testing phase, where the focus is to have almost a destructive attitude and will aim to test not only the design, but also the behavior and even the believed expectations of the customer. Software testers will It is also test up to and beyond the bounds defined in the software requirements specification. This is test that if a failure occurs, that it is handled correctly by the software with as little impact on the customer as possible.
Exploratory Testing
Commonly, while the software is being tested, a good software tester learns things that together with experience and creativity generates new good test cases to run. Good software testers consider exploratory testing to be an approach that can be applied to any test technique, at any stage in the development process. Software testers adopt the exploratory approach during all stages of testing. However, many software test teams use the exploratory testing approach during the final stages of a development just to allow a software testers to roam freely throughout the software focusing on areas of functionality that the software tester has a ‘gut feel’ where there may be issues. This approach can often detect defects that have previously not been considered in other ‘more formal’ areas of software testing.
Installation Testing
Installation testing is a type of software testing that focuses on what customers will need to do to install and set up the new software successfully. The testing process may involve full, partial or upgrades install/uninstall processes. Good software testers will typically perform installation testing when a compiled version of code has reached the final stages of testing or pre-production environment, from which it may or may not progress into final production. By the use of virtual machines, software testers can replicate many different operating systems and environments to fully test installation of software.
