We go out and buy a new fancy Computer or Laptop with a lot of cool features, and then we start using it. We install a bunch of software packages and download lots of neat stuff from the internet. Then we uninstall some of that software and install some other applications (programs).

Then we find there are cool videos we want to watch and maybe even games we want to play.

Then before you know it problems start popping up. We either get frequent unexplained errors or the computer starts to run slower and slower.

Computers are like cars they need maintenance. However, with cars it is usually physical parts that need to be replaced, where with computers it is more likely that software maintenance is required.

Sometimes there are hardware solutions to your problems. For instance, if your system is running slow or crashing when you have a lot of windows open with a number of different processes running at one time, you may have not bought a computer with a fast enough processor or one with insufficient memory to support your computing lifestyle.

If you are having problems while playing online games with lots of fancy graphics then you may just need a new faster video card for your PC.

If your system is slow while playing these games then you may need a faster internet service provider with more bandwidth.

A good thing to do is review your Microsoft Windows settings. Windows uses processor time to handle system performance based on default settings.

Some settings that govern visual effects can also slow down performance. You can disable some of these UI features and improve your computer’s performance. One thing that you might not even miss if you disable it is “show shadows under menus”.

Fonts (especially TrueType fonts) use a good bit of systems resources. Consider trimming down your fonts to gain system resources for other purposes. You can move these fonts to a backup directory just in case you need them down the road for something.

Most of the things previously mentioned are steps that you perform once to get a performance gain.

However, there are some steps that you need to perform on a fairly regular basis or install software that will automatically perform these tasks on your behalf.

To practice safe computing you need some type of anti-virus software installed that is always on duty protecting you from viruses.

In addition, you need to be protected from adware/spyware/malware which is installed on your system without your permission while you are innocently surfing the net.

With the arrival of the EEE PC 1000H, the new ultra portable gets a bit more robust and comfortable than the previous 7 inches and 8.9 inches models. In the process, the EEE PC gains one pound and gets a bit more expensive.

Despite all the issues on the first models, the EEE ultraportables have been very successful, with more than seven million 7 inches units sold in between January and July 2008. Just as the 8.9 just hit the marketplace, the EEE PC 1000H is being launched and wants to attract more customers interested in the ultraporatble concept but may be resisting letting go of a full laptop..

One of the strong points is the new slick design and of course the new 10 inches screen. Not only this new dimension improves the reading comfort, but it also allows the Asus to have a worthy keyboard.

New ultraportable, new processor; faithful to Intel (Celeron equipped the 7 and the 9 series) Asus integrates the latest processor from the Californian brand, the awaited Atom. This low consumption processor should, on one hand, improve the performances but also, improve machine autonomy. This point is important since on the previous models, the batteries where very small for various reasons (weight, cost..) therefore, the autonomy of theses machines suffered quite a bit, which takes away a big part of their interest. It is anticipated that due to the very low power consumption of this new processor and therefore the added autonomy, a new wave of interest shows up for Asus models and for the other ultraportable in general.

The screen has a resolution of 1024 x 600; this is definitively a plus as the screen is about as good as some of high end 11 inches ultraportables. With the bigger screen, better and bigger keyboard and an autonomy expected around 4h30, the EEE PC 1000 and his price of $600 is going to be a formidable competitor for other ultra portables, some of them reaching prices up to $3,000.

The downside of this new model is the weight. It went from less than two pounds on previous models to 3 pounds now. Some “ultranomades” will probably not appreciate. If weight is a definite issue for you, the planned arrival of the EEE PC 904 and 905 should take care of that issue, as they will have weight right around two pounds.

The EEE PC 1000H is delivered with Windows and a version Linux is also available. The hard drive has a capacity of 80 GB, one GB of RAM, of 3 USB ports, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi a Webcam and of a microphone.

Pros: – Bigger screen – more comfortable Keyboard – improved Autonomy

Cons: – Heavier

Building on its previous success the EEE PC 1000H should do well. At that size it’s getting a little bit away from the ultraportable attribute that made is reputation, on the other hand, it is a more comfortable user experience… All in all it’s a very good machine that will attract customers that want the ultra portability while keeping a certain level of workability.

Today more important than ever data recovery including laptop data recovery, pc data recovery, and notebook data recovery has become top priority for everyone since we have more information storing than ever before. So how can we protect our important data? Read full article and discover how to protect your data no matter what kind of recovery type it is laptop data recovery, pc data recovery or notebook data recovery with my data recovery information.

So what can happen to your data? You may delete accidentally, hard disk might get crashed or it could be due to virus attack.

Data recovery types

Select your data recovery option first depending on data recovery type. You have two choices; use of a data recovery software or hire a data recovery professional from a reputed data recovery company. The difference is software data recovery is much easy and economical, but on the other hand data recovery companies will charge you more but provide a good personalized service and also software data recovery often recovers damaged, deleted or similar type of files while data recovery company professionals can recover all kinds of files including damaged due to rain, fire or all types of physical damaged files.

How to avoid and recover data

So far the best method is to back up data regularly and use of good well known anti virus software while it’s highly recommended to cool down your hard disk as much as possible when it’s working. Do not remove your hard disk from casing very often and in case of a data loss or boot failure do not panic because data is still there in the disk it will remain as it is as long as that particular particle get replaced by new data. So when you know that data is being loss, do not work on the pc that might cause data loss permanent. Yes of cause you can use data recovery software.

If you are one of those who works with a computer on a daily basis like me you should consider a laptop. I have actually owned three now and I think I would be lost without mine. I still use my desktop PC quite a bit at home but the laptop comes in extremely handy when I am away.

It’s not just convenient owning a laptop but it is also even more fun to use than the desktop. Your laptop can be totally modified to fit your needs and can be an extension of your desktop if need be. I know that I sometimes need to be able to use the same programs that I would normally have on my desktop and thanks to the additional of a 30GB portable drive, I can keep all the programs I would normally need on it and save the space on my laptop. I just plug it in to my USB port and I am off to the races.

You can customize the look of your display settings just as you would with your desktop so your window displays as well font sizes are all a click away.

There are many add ons that you can buy for your laptop to make it more convenient for you to use. If you need more space, you can do as I suggested and get a portable drive that will keep you from clogging up your main hard drive. You can also get smaller flash drives for moving information from one place to another.

Sometimes the way that the mouse is configured on a laptop makes it inconvenient or uncomfortable to use, if this is the case for you then you can get an external mouse that plugs into your laptop to make it easier to use, the same also can be said for the keyboard. If the keyboard seems too small or awkward, then plug in an external one.

Many times you will find that if you use your laptop often that it will begin to overheat, if this is the case for you then you should look into an external laptop cooler. Laptop coolers can help keep your system cooler and prevent damage from overheating.

If you are not happy with the sound of the internal speakers that your laptop came with you can buy a set of small powerful speakers and plug them into your laptop to give you better quality and louder sound.

If you travel quite a bit I highly recommend that you get a hard laptop case. Laptops are fragile and it is very easy to screw up a screen, they aren’t cheap to replace.

Although netbooks have been around for a couple of years, they are quite knew and unknown for most people. That’s why many confuse them with laptops or try to find the differences between netbooks and laptops.

That’s why in the rows below I’m going to explain to you what is the difference between a netbook and a laptop in a couple of short and easy to understand lines.

First of all, netbooks are like the tiny brothers of regular laptops. that’s because they are lighter and smaller. While the average laptop has a 15.4″ screen and weights around 4.5-5 pounds, the average netbook these days has a 10″ screen and weight around 2.8 pounds. And since it has a smaller screen, it also has a smaller body and it’s more compact and easier to carry around.

Then, netbooks come with smaller screens and usually smaller resolution. You might have already got that from the previous paragraph, but since netbooks are smaller, so are their screens. You can get them with displays between 7 to 12 inches, while laptops have displays between 12 to 19 inches , and there are only a handful of 12″ versions.

Also, netbooks are more portable than laptops. Besides that size issue, they also come with better battery life. if you could expect and average 3 hours life from a 15.4″ notebook, a standard 10″ netbooks can easily give you these days 6 to 8 hours, with some even passing the 10 hours mark. and that’s something a standard laptop can’t offer you.

the bigger autonomy of netbooks is mostly due to the lower hardware they house. Yes, netbooks are meant to use low-consumption hardware that can only offer a limited amount of performances. they’re good for basic every-day stuff, but when it comes to resources hungry applications or games, they can’t take the challenge. Laptops on the other hand can even house ultra-per formant hardware, as there are bigger desktop-replacement devices with up to 3 hard-drives, Sli graphic cards and high end CPUs.

Last but not at all least, there’s the price mater. A standard netbook goes for around $350 and offers a good 10″ screen, decent hardware, good built low profile body and an autonomy of around 8 hours. You can get laptops for these money actually, but you’ll end up with a big and bulky device with hardware not much better than what you can find in netbooks and very poor autonomy. A good laptop though runs for 600-800 bucks and high end versions could easily jump $2000 . So, although there are differences in performances between laptops and netbooks, these differences are seen in their price tags.

So, as a conclusion, a netbook is like a sub-laptop. It has a screen, keyboard, touch-pad and most used ports and can offer enough power to run standard apps. It’s also compact light and comes with a very good battery life for a very good price. laptops on the other hand are bigger and with a lower autonomy, but they can provide all the extra performance netbooks lack.

There are other tiny details too, and you can find out more in this article about the difference between netbooks and laptops.
